Horror game I'm making in UE5

Overview

Dusk is a short, atmospheric horror adventure game I am developing in Unreal Engine 5.
The game is designed as a single-evening experience — about 1.5–2.5 hours of focused, story-driven gameplay.

The action takes place in the early 2000s, in a small, remote Polish countryside, and Polish forest. The world is filled with familiar, grounded details: old cars, worn-out furniture, and everyday rural life — but filtered through a disturbing, unsettling lens.

Core Concept

  • Genre: Horror adventure
  • Target length: ~1.5–2.5 hours
  • Platform: PC
  • Distribution: Planned release on Steam, with a price range of ~15–25 PLN
  • Target audience: Players 16+

The focus is not on complex mechanics, but on:

  • Tension and atmosphere
  • Simple, readable interactions
  • A cohesive world that feels grounded and authentic, yet deeply unsettling

Visual Style

The game uses a deliberate low-poly, PSX-inspired visual style:

Low-poly countryside environment at dusk Low-poly countryside environment at dusk

All of this is stylized in a way that looks familiar at first glance, but becomes more disturbing the longer you stay in it.

Artistic Direction

Nighttime scene with strong contrast and horror atmosphere

The art direction is not about realism, but about mood:
slightly broken geometry, jittery animations, grain, and flickering elements build a constant sense of unease.
